ANSWERS ARE HERE: B: Norwegian Vikings. The Norwegian Viking chief Erik the Red was made an outlaw and sailed from Iceland in 982 and sought west, where he landed in Southeast Greenland. The first settlement developed over the next 400 years into a proper community, after which these Norsemen mysteriously disappeared, possibly after battles with the Inuit. The Inuit first came to Greenland from North America between 1100 and 1300, i.e. more than 100 years after the Norsemen. The order of arrival and the right to Greenland makes the question of historical excuses extra paradoxical here.
